How I Watch TV

whether serials or films i download all of my television viewing needs from bittorrent

azueus

basically, i keep track of recent television shows like Studio 60, Battlestar Galactica, Lost, and mini serials from the BBC like Robin Hood and Bleak House by searching through mininova, which indexes all of the EZTV torrents. it is somewhat labour intensive and i really need to automate some of this stuff by using a client that supports RSS better than utorrent, like azureus, but there is an element of serendipity that comes into play when you visit mininova from time to time. anyway, i do not watch that many serials so i am content with the setup for now. and the last time i used azureus, it was a big phat memory hog, using java as it does. cute logo tho.

for films, i also browse mininova and perform searches using the torrentz search engine, but bittorrent is not so great for older films. i suppose emule would be better for this, but i really do not like to use that p2p network. to keep on top of new releases, i use a combination of IMDB and amazon. i collect new films i want to watch in my BT folder on IMDB and i go to amazon to sign up for email notification when a particular film comes out in DVD. when they send me an email, i know that the torrent will be available for download. for example, i just put The Departed into my BT folder on IMDB and then clicked on the DVD icon in the Shop amazon.com block in the right column, which took me to amazon and which told me that it was not available but that i could sign up for an email notification when it does become available. simple.

i wonder how other folks manage their television habits?
