in which i congradulate them on their killer radio show and suggest a possible contender for the best of 2006 and one which was left out of the official list
hello ms. gracie,
"the interview" is one of my favourite worldservice shows, as both you and owen bennett-jones can truly grill those folks who need to be asked the tough questions, unlike the practice of the timid US press. one moment i think you should have included in your "best of" show was the interview owen bennett-jones conducted with karen hughes, under secretary of state for public diplomacy and public affairs. overall a very satisfying interview, and there was one moment when i found myself laughing outloud. ms. hughes was defending the bush administration's support for democracy around the world and she mentioned kuwait as an example. bennett-jones did not respond audibly, but he must have pulled a face because ms. hughes then remarked "don't raise your eyebrows!" and owen then said with clear indignation in his voice "kuwait!?"
that was great radio.
yours,
steve
